Fort Wayne, the second biggest city in the state of Indiana, is earning recognition as a musically diverse city. The city is home to some major music venues, such as the War Memorial Coliseum, where artists such as James Taylor, Luke Bryan and Brad Paisley have graced the stage. In addition to the large scale music acts Fort Wayne hosts, there is also a great number of smaller venues, granting newer artists with a chance to gain stardom in the city and showcase their talents to locals, which allows for a wide variety of music in the Fort Wayne Area.
As the home of the rapidly expanding Sweetwater Sound company, Fort Wayne hosts several larger scale music events annually, such as the Fort Wayne Music Festival and BAALS, which provide artists of every caliber with a chance to showcase their talents. Most artists who perform at these events are local. Although these festivals take place mostly in the summer, scattered about Fort Wayne are several venues that incorporate live music into their weekly schedules year round, such as Skeletunes Lounge, The Phoenix and Piere’s Entertainment. Fort Wayne is quickly developing a thriving music scene, drawing in big name artists, while also inviting new artists to try their hands at success by getting in to the many local venues that the city has to offer.
